Manchester International Airport currently has 3 terminal buildings. Terminal 1 is used predominantly by non-BA international traffic by airlines including Etihad, Lufthansa, and Scandinavian Airlines; Terminal 2 serves the International market with flights with Emirates, Continental, Qatar Airways as well as charter airlines dominating the slots; Terminal 3 is Used mainly by British Airways for both domestic and International flights, although other carriers such as American Airlines, SN Brussels and BMI also have a number of daily departures. Manchester Airport offers many good quality shopping opportunities both before and after security, so the chances are, if you’ve forgotten to pack something, you should be able to find it before you fly. Shops at Manchester Airport include Cotton Traders, Times 2 Watches, and World Duty Free, which offers a great selection of perfumes, spirits and cheap cigarettes. Parking facilities are reasonably good on site, with both long and short stay car parks at all 3 terminals, as well as private parking available nearby. Manchester airport has its own main line station and there are regular services from the city centre. A planned extension of the Manchester Metro light train will offer access on local services within the next few years. There are regular buses from Piccadilly station in Manchester city centre, which are offered under the Skyline banner. You can also get an airport taxi, which can be pre-booked in advance of travel, although the rate will vary depending on where you travel from. |
