Before you fly from London Heathrow, there are plenty of opportunities to stock up on a few last essentials, as well as the all important duty free! Shopping at all terminals of Heathrow is good, with many well known stores to choose from, so no matter what you’ve forgotten to pack, from beach wear through to perfume, you can buy it before you fly at shops like Austin Reed, Boots, Rolling Luggage, and Glorious Britain, amongst many others. If you have an early departure from London Heathrow Airport, and want to avoid getting stuck in traffic on your way to your flight, a great idea is to spend the night at one of the Heathrow Airport hotels before you fly. There is a great choice on offer, ranging from basic to opulent, and they are connected to the main terminal buildings by the regular Hotel Hoppa bus service, which costs around £3 each way. Hotels at the airport include Hilton London Heathrow Airport, Comfort Inn London Heathrow, Holiday Inn Heathrow, the Ibis Heathrow, Jurys Inn Hotel, Marriott, Novotel, Le Meridien Park Inn Heathrow, and many more. Alternatives to get to Heathrow include the Heathrow Express train from Paddington Station, the London Underground on the Piccadilly Line via Hounslow to all 4 operational terminals, and the Speedlink bus service from the centre of London. Taxis are available from outside the terminal building, although the 15-mile journey into the centre of the city becomes very expensive. Getting from the centre of the city can take anything up to two hours depending on the traffic, so leave plenty of time for your trip. The car parking at Heathrow is extensive, and as some of the long stay parking is some distance from the terminal building, there is a convenient free shuttle service to get you to the departure area. |
