Lufthansa Financial Results Announced

Lufthansa has reported a profit for the first half of the year of EUR402 million, which is quite a feat considering the rising costs they have been facing.

Total earnings for the year to date were up by nearly 20 percent compared with the previous year at just over EUR12 billion, with operating income up by a staggering 45 percent to EUR705 million. A Lufthansa spokesman felt that the results showed a very stable performance though the result for the coming six months would be dependent on a number of factors, including fuel costs and the global economy.

The current strike action will have an impact on end of year figures too, though how much is dependent on the extent of the strike action. Yesterday for example saw a number of flights to Frankfurt and Munich cancelled, though this is just a small percentage of the whole schedule.
