Viva Espana!

Passenger figures for the month of May proved to be quite a tonic for the Scottish airports of BAA, with figures showing major levels of growth. One of the primary reasons for this was the influx of Spanish football supporters, travelling to Scotland for the UEFA Cup Final between Seville and Espanyol.
The three BAA Airports in Scotland – Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen - dealt with nearly two million travellers in the month of May, and around thirty thousand of those were from Spain, no doubt heading back on their flights to Spain with a mixture of elation and despair depending on their footballing allegiance.
The other positive aspect of the extra passenger numbers was that the airports found no difficulty in helping the travellers on their way. With some extra staff drafted in to deal with the demand the process saw no major difficulties. In fact there were many words of praise for the airport personnel and they should rightly feel proud of themselves.
