A KLM Boeing 747 bound for Bangkok had to return to Amsterdam shortly after take-off, when crew discovered that one of the doors had been left slightly open. An online survey conducted by an Australian research group has confirmed what most of us already knew: passengers thing that they are being ripped off by greedy airlines thanks to the sky high fuel surcharges that are being levied on top of ticket prices. More Strikes push Alitalia further into the red

Air France and Airbus guilty in 1992 Crash

Air France and aircraft manufacturer Airbus have been found responsible for a 1992 plane crash, and ordered to pay damages to the victims. The crash, which killed 87 people took place in 1992, when an Airbus A320 aircraft smashed into a mountain as it approached Strasbourg Airport in the west of France. The aeroplane was operated by Air Inter, a subsidiary of Air France, which has now been incorporated fully into the national carrier. 9 people survived.

Continental Airlines Traffic rises in October

Continental Airlines has enjoyed bumper figures for load factor during October, breaking its own record with figures of 79.3% for the month. The airline also reported an increase in revenue per seat mile of around 5% year on year, despite gloomy predictions by the airline industry during its traditionally quiet period of mid autumn.

Continental plane misses runway at Newark

A Continental Airlines flight crew has been indefinitely grounded after mistakenly landing on a taxiway at New York’s Newark Airport. The plane, Flight CO1883, a Boeing 757-200 arriving from Orlando had 157 passengers on board when it missed the runway and landed on the adjacent taxiway at the airport. No one was hurt in the incident although safety questions were raised, and had the taxiway been in use at the time, there could have been carnage.
