With so many foreign students in the city to study the artwork, Florence's nightlife is both lively, and cosmopolitan. Younger crowds tend to head for Oltrarno - located south of the river, where the bars are open late, and the mix of foreign students, and local Lotharios gives rise to a great atmosphere. Otherwise, the Piazza della Signorina is a great place to go in order to sit outside one of the many café's and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city partying long into the night.
As with any university town, the number of people around in the evening, and indeed the popularity of nightclubs fluctuates during the year, although some of the best places to go are Central Park on the outskirts of the city, which is perennially fashionable, and Villa Kasar on the banks of the Arno is an upmarket place with a strict policy on the door.
Dress up in your best clothes to go out in Florence, and of course, when you look your best; take a stroll through the crowds of parading beauties to show yourself off in the nightly ritual known as Passegiata.
