Without a doubt, the nightlife capital of China, Shanghai has a frenetic pace of life in the evening, and a proliferation of bars and nightclubs serving revellers until the small hours, and something for everyone. The most fashionable parts of the city are in the Henshang Lu and Maoming Lu areas, where clubs are open until around 3 in the morning. Junan Lu bars are open until much later, but are pretty sleazy to say the least. If you want a more refined nightlife experience, with a more mature crowd, head for Nanjing Xi Lu, where the pace is a little slower.
