A short distance from Edinburgh, and well within reach for a day trip from the Scottish capital are the rolling hills and picturesque valleys of the borders region, where you can visit the famous Tweed Valley, and pick up a nice itchy suit that will make you look like a country gent, as well as keeping you warm throughout the cold Scottish winter.
There are also plenty of nice places to go walking in the borders, but for some people, the mere chance to gaze on Northern England's absolute loveliness is reason enough to visit.
