If you want a break from cowboy hats and steel guitars for a few minutes, and the big hair of Nashville is getting to be too much, then a pleasant day out in the country can be had by saddling up the old wagon, and heading over to the Nashville Wildlife park & Zoo to the south of the city in Grassmere, where you can wander through open terrain stocked with wolves and moose, as well as seeing the usual zoo type animals in enclosures.
There are also many national parks dotted around the city in all directions where you can go trekking and camping in the semi-wilderness.
