Not far from "fun loving" Salt Lake City, you can visit the massive cave system of Mount Timpanogos, which has been designated as a national monument. The caves are filled with impressive rock formations and underground pools. You have to hike a bit to get to the caves, but once there the effort is worthwhile due to the stunning views both underground and over the ground that you can see.
