Throughout the year, the Hawaiian Islands play host to a wide variety of events, from major sporting occasions such as the International Billfishing Championships in August, the Quick Silver/ Eddie Aiku Memorial Big Wave Classic surfing championships in December, and the Sony Golf Open in mid January. There are also cultural events such as Lei Day, and the Aloha Week of traditional Hawaiian Culture.
Because the islands have such a great climate all year round, the chances are that there will be at least one event being celebrated by the locals while you are in the islands, and it pays to pick up a listings magazine from the lobby of your hotel in order to check exactly what is going on while you are there.
