As the centre of Elvis related culture for the whole world, Memphis celebrates major events in the king's life as though they were major religious feasts, and January 8th - The Kings Birthday sees Graceland as the centre of events. The anniversary of Elvis' death on the toilet on August 16th sees an annual candlelight vigil around the grounds of his mansion and a Dead Elvis Ball in the city.
