The people of Nepal have a large number of major festivals throughout the year, and many of them include the slaughter of luckless animals or, the worship of lucky animals.
The biggest celebrations across the country are for Daisan in October, and Tihar in November.
As people across the country follow Buddhism and Hinduism, the main festivals of both religions are actively observed, although the increasing number of Maoist groups attempting to wrest control of Nepal from its ruler probably means that it won't be long before everything has to be approved by Beijing.
