There are events and festivals throughout the year in Tokyo that pay homage to both the city, and Japan's rich history, and some of the most important are New Year on January 31st; the cherry blossom festival in April, celebrated with picnics under the trees; the Sanja festival, which is marked with parades of shrines through Asukusa in May; and the International Motor Show, where you can see the latest wacky designs that never make it onto the road, and the rather staid and boring ones that do (November).
