Madrid has a weeklong carnival celebration before the beginning of Lent in either February or Early March. The Fiesta de La Comunidad de Madrid on 2nd May is a huge celebration when the city gets wild.

Hotel accommodation can be more expensive during major events, and should you wish to travel to the city in order to see the spectacle, it pays to book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
