Taxis in Dubai are good value - the trip from a beach hotel to the centre of the city takes around 30 mins and costs about £8 during the day, although most of the hotels have complimentary shuttle bus services that run at various times throughout the day. It is possible to hire a car especially if ou plan to tour areas outside Dubai, although the roads in the city itself are very busy during the day, and while the drivers on the whole are safe, poor lane discipline and over complicated one way systems make driving in Dubai a white knuckle experience that is often better left to others.
