The main points of entry are Ben Gurion airport in cosmopolitan Tel Aviv, and Eilat airport on the Red Sea. From both of these points, Israel has a great network of roads that are well served by buses and service taxis that get you around the country to all the points of interest you might want to see.
Israel is still a place where cultures run into each other headlong, and from time to time, bombs go off, and the government retaliates. Not quite as unstable as it seems on the television news, Israel can be a dangerous place to be if you get caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. It pays to be careful, and stay away from public areas as well as keeping up to date with consular advice prior to travel.
