Around Langkawi Island, the easiest way of getting around is by using the taxis that operate between hotels and the small towns. These do not generally have meters, and fares should be agreed in advance, although many drivers will offer their services on an hourly basis, and tour the island with you. Typically, RM10 covers most standard journeys, and an hourly rate would be around RM20.
You could hire a car in Langkawi should you want to explore the island on your own, and the roads are well signposted, although fuel is not that easy to come by in the more remote regions of the island.
