From the modern Changi Airport to Downtown Singapore takes around 20 minutes on a train, although most people arriving on a packaged holiday will find that their transfers to the hotel are included.
The easiest way to get around the city is the safe, and predictably very clean, MRT (mass Rapid Transit) railway, which has stops in most of the most visited areas.
There are also taxis and many rickshaws around the city, which are good value.
For longer Trips, Singapore is the starting point for the beautifully luxurious Eastern And Oriental Express, which travels up into Thailand. There are other lesser trains that operate the route, but for sheer unabashed indulgence, few experiences can beat the level of service offered by the legendary Eastern and Oriental Express.
