The Caribbean island of Jamaica lies to the south of Cuba, and is one of the most important tourist destinations in the region, attracting people from all over the world to its well developed resorts and picture perfect beaches. Jamaica also has a rich and vibrant culture, an easy going relaxed lifestyle, beautiful scenery, and a reputation for friendliness that ensures that visitors return year after year to recapture the experience that the island offers them.
Whether you spend you holiday relaxing on one of Negril's fantastic beaches, or bartering your way through the markets of Kingston, or trekking through the densely forested interior, visitors to Jamaica soon discover that the island is a place where anything is possible, and where the motto - "Out of many, one people" begins to make sense.
Montego Bay is the main place to go in the North, and although the town itself is down at heel and home to more than a few drug dealing reprobates and "skankers", there is a great deal of architecture, and a few bargain rich markets. MoBay - as it is known locally tends to be a place people pass through, rather than stay in, and although there are nice resorts close by, it's not the holiday paradise that you might think.
Negril on the other hand is just that place, a laid back, easygoing beach bum paradise of white sands, palm trees and long days lazing in the sun with a glass of rum. The hotels around Negril are some of the best on the island, and as the main tourism centre, there is some high quality nightlife locally.
