The currency used in Albania is the Lek, and very few places outside the main hotels in the capital city Tirana accept credit cards.

You can change money at banks and at the legal moneychangers who operate in the streets in Tirana. The best rates of exchange are given for US dollars.

There is no limit to the amount of money that you can bring into the country, although the maximum that you can take out is $5000. You cannot export or import the Lek from Albania.
