The currency used in Lithuania is the Litas, and credit cards are welcomed in the larger cities such as Vilnius, where there are many cash points that accept Visa and Cirrus Cards.
The cost of living remains low in the country, although it is rising, and away from the tourist areas, there are cafes where you can get a meal for two people including wine for less than £10, although expect to pay at least triple that in the nicer restaurants.
On the whole tipping is not expected in the country, although it is customary to give around 5% if the service is good.
Bargaining is expected in smaller markets, and you can get a discount of up to about 20% if you're polite about the haggle.
