Eating out in Mumbai is a real pleasure, with literally thousands of restaurants to choose from, ranging in quality and style from tiny shacks in the bazaars and on Chowpatty beach where you can pick up a snack, and a dose of Bombay bum to the most fantastic palaces of gastronomy, where every cuisine from all over the world is on offer.
The many varieties of Indian food are on offer throughout the city, including spicy Nepalese food, Hot Kashmiri curries from the north, and superb dry Madras dishes, but because Mumbai has long been a trading port, with contacts everywhere in the world, Chinese, Thai, Arabic and even Mexican food is available in abundance, and if you can't live without a home cooked roast, then head to one of the excellent English restaurants at the fort, where you can get a great meal.
