The main shopping areas in the Bahamas are Nassau, and Freeport and Lucaya on Grand Bahama.
In Nassau, Bay Street is where you find most of the shops, and there are great bargains to be had on luxury items such as perfume, and jewellery, which tend to be far cheaper than in other countries.
Aside from the upmarket boutiques, all three of the main shopping areas have straw markets where you can pick up many locally produced souvenirs including carved wood and paintings.
On the rest of the islands of the Bahamas, there is not so much choice, and when it comes to picking up a few things, you are generally confined to whatever shops are located at your hotel.
