While Norway is not the cheapest city in the world when it comes to shopping, there is still good value to be had on locally produced goods including knitwear, and pewter, although craft prices are fixed by the government, so you pay the same price everywhere.

The main shopping area is Frogner, around the Royal Palace, and in the large new shopping mall Oslo City, although more salubrious surroundings and a place to buy the more upmarket goods is in Paleet, on Karl Johan's Gate.
