Singapore has many different options for participating and watching sport throughout the city. There are several local football teams who play throughout the year, and English Premier League matches are shown in many sports bars. Manchester United are big favourites, and are known as the Pride of Singapore.
The Singapore Turf Club hosts large races throughout the season, and is actually the only place in the city where gambling is allowed. The biggest events on the calendar are the Queen Elizabeth Cup, and the Singapore Airlines International Cup.
The National Stadium also hosts a major rugby sevens tournament in April every year and this attracts teams from all over the world to come and compete.
