The symbol of the city is the famous statue of the Mannekin-Pis, the fountain of a small boy caught short in the centre of Rue de l'etuve, said to have been sculpted by Rodin, the statue represents the boys who were employed to put out fires in this unique manner, and throughout the year, various companies clothe him in whatever they are trying to promote.
Few people know of the sister statue, the Jeaneke Pis on Rue de Bouchers, which was added to the city in a bid to promote a restaurant, and is quite widely hated by the locals.
