Christchurch is the centre for American, Italian, and of course New Zealand's exploration of Antarctica, and the International Antarctic Centre is a permanent exhibition and museum located close to the airport where you can experience what it is like to live and work in the coldest and most remote areas in the world in a series of well thought out displays, including an ice cave, and a very very cold room.
The museum's staff have all worked at the ice stations, and as such are on hand to answer any questions that you may have for them.
