Just about the most western point on mainland Europe, lying at the far end of the Algarve from Faro is the small fishing point of Sagres which remains a centre of the local fishing industry, and has some great sea food restaurants, and from the town, you can easily walk to Cabo de Sao Vicente, and see the point from which the Portuguese emperors looked out across the world that they would later conquer.
To see the views of the water on all sides is quite a sight, and one that you find it hard to forget.
