No visitor to Madrid should miss the chance to view a traditional bullfight during his or her stay. The pomp and pageantry of the sport is often overlooked, and the practise dismissed as brutal and cruel, however the aficionados of the sport recognise the grace and skill of the matador and appreciate the bull more than the uninitiated could imagine.
Bull fighting is huge business in Spain, and Madrid is home to the world's biggest bullring, the Plaza del Toros Monumental de Las Ventas which hosts fights throughout the year. The biggest names in the sport come out for the Feria in mid May when the bullring is packed to capacity for 4 weeks.
