Although the prospect of visiting the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices may not thrill even the most enthusiastic traveller to the city, a visit to this bizarre granite monolith in the Shinjuku district of the city is something that no traveller to Tokyo should allow themselves to miss out on.
The building is comprised of two separate towers with a free observation deck on the 45th floor of each.
The views over the city during the day are nothing short of staggering (on a clear day you can see as far as Mount Fuji), but at night, when the neon lights up, it is like looking out over a sea of light rather than a city.
