The Palace of Culture and Science was a gift from Mother Russia to Warsaw in 1955, and at 30 storeys tall remained the second largest building in Europe until the 1970s.
The building was one of seven that share a similar style - the rest are in Moscow, and legend has it that the wrong set of plans were sent to the Polish builders, and that the Palace of Culture and Science should have been much smaller, and less grand.
You can travel up to the 30th floor of the structure, and from there, fantastic views are available across the city.
