Sailing week starts from the last Sunday in April and is centred on Nelson's Dockyard and Falmouth Harbour. There are 5 hotly contested races, but the main attractions are the rum parties and formal balls that celebrate the event.
Antigua truly comes alive with Carnival at the end of July, with calypso music filling the streets, and great parades where everyone with the energy is invited to join the party and dance with the locals.
The other main event is the Antiguan Jazz Festival attracting the cream of musicians and its audience from all around the world. It takes place every October in and around St John's, and boasts a wide range of concerts and performances for everyone to enjoy.
