The Eisriesenwelt Caves situated one mile above sea level and about 30KM from Salzburg are the largest accessible ice caves in the world. There are more than 40KM of passageways as well as amazing ice formations. Entry to the caves is strictly regulated and you have to stick to the guided tour that lasts about an hour and a quarter.
St Anton is the premier ski resort in Austria, and the prices there reflect that. Although in season, the skiing is some of the best in Europe, the nightlife throughout the year is really good.
For drivers, the views of mountains from the 50 KM Grossglocker road running through the Hohe Tauen National park are well worth half a days journey, and even the worst photographer will get excellent results.
