Amongst the many attractions awaiting visitors to Christchurch, some of the most interesting are the Airforce Museum, where you can see a variety of aircraft and their histories, the Canterbury Museum, with its collection of Maori artefacts, and also the Christchurch Tramway company, which gives a tour of the historic city on one of the vintage trams that they have operated for many years.
High above the city, the Christchurch Gondola takes visitors on a 1KM ride up to the top of an extinct volcano, where they can take in the spectacular views of the city, Canterbury plains, and the Lyttleton Harbour a few miles away. The most popular rides are at night, when the lights of the city are spread out beneath you, and the complex at the top offers high quality romantic meals to enjoy.
