For many people, Edinburgh Castle, built on an extinct Volcano is the main attraction in the city, and is home to the Scottish Crown Jewels as well as a stunning collection of antiques and paintings.
The Royal Yacht Britannia retired in 1998 lies at anchor at Ocean Terminal in Leith and is open to the public. The Queen's bedroom is the most popular part of the tour, and events are hosted on the yacht throughout the year.
The Scotland Museum, National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery can all be found in the centre of the city, and explored in a day, while when the city itself gets too much for you, then a walk through the Royal Hunting Grounds in the city wilderness of Holyrood Park are a popular place for getting back to nature for a little while.
