The Red Sea coast around Sharm-El-Sheikh offers some excellent beaches and superb resorts to stay in. Locally available, there are diving trips to some of the best dive sites in the world.
On the Nile in the centre of the country, accessible either by ferry from Cairo, or on a flight, the city of Luxor is perhaps even richer in history than the capital. Here, visitors can see the Valley of the Kings - last resting place for many of the pharaohs, and the locations of Tutankhamen's tomb. The Temple of Luxor is also a breathtaking sight, particularly at sunset, when the light is at its best for photography
.Aswan in the far South of the Country is traditionally Egypt's gateway to Africa, the place where the Arab influences of Egypt proper mix with the more African ideas of the rest of the continent. Aside from the incredible Aswan dam, you can also see the Nubian Museum, which celebrates the living history of this part of the country.
