There is plenty to see and do in the city of Nice. The most popular attraction is of course the beach, and although this is pebbles rather than sandy, it is still a great place to relax on a hot day, and very popular.
There are many museums if the sun gets too hot - or it rains, and the best of these is arguably the Musee Matisse, which is dedicated to the artist. The unique light and pleasant climate of Nice attracted many of the big names in art such as Renoir and Picasso throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, and many of their best works were painted in the city.
The old town or Vieux Nice is a pleasant place to explore the winding streets, and is also home to much of the city's nightlife.
