A similar climate to Germany means that Poland enjoys relatively hot summers, particularly in the main cities Warsaw and Kracow, where temperatures can get as high as 30C on hot days. Winter is typically cold and wet, although some of the mountains in the southern parts of the country do have reputations as reasonably good skiing destinations in winter.
The countryside is at its most pleasant in the spring and autumn, when the changing colours of trees and wild flowers make it intensely beautiful away from the industrial areas, and ideal for walking and enjoying.
