Although the main resort in Penang is Batu Ferrenghi, the area is not that well served with bars, boasting just a handful, although the Soho Beach club - with its claim to having the most draught beers in all of Malaysia on tap is a good place to start an evening out. Georgetown has a wider selection, befitting its status as the largest town on the island, and in Georgetown there are opportunities to drink right through the evening, although as the predominantly Muslim country does not really promote Alcohol, prices for liquor are comparatively high, and compare approximately with those in the UK
