Christmas is a great time to travel, as larger cities really come alive at that time of the year, with festive lights in the streets and displays and grottoes in the larger department stores. London, Edinburgh and Manchester all have large New Year parties, and once they are over, the January Sales start, making it a great time for shoppers.
