Around two hours from San Antonio, you can visit the Mexican border towns of Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, where the fiestas seem to continue all year around, and to where many Texans go in order to escape from the buttoned down strictures of city life, and let down their hair for a few days. Aside from the reputation as a party town, Laredo has a number of ancient buildings to look at, and some pleasant places to sunbathe on the banks of the Rio Grande.
