Budapest is served by most major European airlines including direct flights from London with Malev Hungarian and British Airways, so getting there is a simple trouble free operation.
From arrival into the modern new terminal at Ferihegy International airport, 24 KM to the south east of the city, it is a simple matter to get to your hotel in the centre. Most package deals already include a coach or a car transfer, but there are less convenient local buses, and a good value taxi service that also operate into Budapest.
Within the city itself, there is a good network of public transport including over ground trams and an underground railway, as well as buses. It is possible to buy a card that includes use of public transport as part of a package to the city, which is a good way of getting around.
Taxis operate 24 hours a day, but should always be booked in advance, the concierge at most hotels and restaurant staff will be able to recommend a company.
