From Cape Town International Airport, which is around 22KM from the city centre, there are good public transport links into the city centre where the majority of the hotels can be found.
For the centre of the city, the best way of getting around is either on foot, or by hailing a taxi. If you want to see the surrounding area, then it is advisable to hire a car, and drive yourself, as the public transport around the city is not that comprehensive.
There are many guided tours of the countryside that will allow you to relax on a coach and listen to the commentary while you are driven around that can be pre-booked before travel.
